Well hello there, and thanks for popping in!
Welcome to the Solitude blog – it’s a bit shiny and new at the moment, but I’m sure that’ll change over the next few months. I’m assuming that if you’re here now it’s because I already know you, which means that I’ve probably dropped it into the conversation at some point that I’m heading away on holiday soon. If not, here’s the plan:
- 2nd December – fly to Buenos Aires
- Tour Patagonia with tent, camera and big cheesy grin
- 12th March – fly to New Zealand
- Tour New Zealand with tent, camera and big cheesy grin
- 3rd April – Gwen and Garth’s wedding in South Africa
- Tour Namibia, Botswana and Zambia with tent, camera, big cheesy grin and a whole lot of people on Gwen and Garth’s honeymoon
As plans go, it’s fool-proof.
There’s two primary reasons for starting the blog. The first is to keep kith and kin informed of where I am and what I’m up to. The second is that I’ve been lucky enough to book an exhibition of the photos that I’ll be taking in Patagonia for when I get back, and I thought that blogging about the trip while I was out there would be a good way to promote it. There’s bound to be some stories to be told along the way and there’d better be some good photos, so feel free to pass the address along to all and sundry if you think they might be interested.
What the blog’s not likely to be is very regular: I’ve no idea how often I’ll be likely to get online, so there’ll be no daily posting, probably no weekly posting and definitely no spam about what I had for lunch or what tune’s been stuck in my head all day. I’ll just try to make the effort when there’s something I think that’s worth sharing.
I’ll leave it at that for now. I’ve a lot of admin to take care of… little things like immunisations and learning Spanish. Sign up for the RSS feed and you’ll not miss the five minute skive when I do post again.
Take care folks!
Dougie
