A large part of the reason for starting this blog is to promote the exhibition that will take place when I return to the Lake District in May. As part of the Keswick Mountain Festival, I will be putting on an exhibition in the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, running from the 19th May to the 5th July.

It’s a joint exhibition with a Chilean Painter, Jaime Medina Jimenez. Here’s the blurb:

A Lakes Exchange

Dougie Cunningham & Jaime Medina Jimenez

An exhibition of landscape and mountain images from two emerging modern artists. Born in Santiago de Chile, Jaime grew up visiting and painting the landscape of the Patagonian Lake District. Glasgow born Dougie Cunningham has lived in and photographed the English Lake District for the last two years.

For this exhibition they are exchanging venues: Jaime is visiting Cumbria to paint our local fells, while Dougie tours Patagonia with his camera. “A Lakes Exchange” brings together two highly individual and innovative artists, from distant cultures and working in contrasting media but with a shared passion for the mountains.

We’re both really excited to be working on the project! It should bring an interesting angle to what might otherwise be just another show of painting or photographs. Neither of us have created any material yet, so the pressure’s on. I’ll try to keep you updated n progress through the blog.

Here’s a few examples of some of Jaime’s other work. There´s some more here. You can find my own work through the links to my online gallery on the right.

Why?

So here's the thing - you go on holiday around the world for 5 months, just you and your camera. There's bound to be some interesting photos and stories along the way.... How'd you share them with the folks back home without spending your entire holiday and budget online? I guess a blog's the answer....

Where am I?
